Why Are There Hairs On My Tires?
The answer to your questions are listed down below:
What are these tiny rubber hairs?
These are called "tire hair", those little hairs that come out of the tire tread, although they are of no use, that is, they have no specific function, the hairs are actually crucial to the process of making tires. But first, you need to know a little about how tires are created to comprehend why. The actual name for the hairs is ‘vent spews’, a bizarre name for something that is commonly seen. Other names include sprue nubs, tire nibs, gate marks, or nippers.
How are the tire hairs made?
The extra rubber (tire raw material) that the production machine's mold leaves behind is what causes the hairs on the tire. When the tire gets the shape we are familiar with, the materials go through pressure. There is a chance that air bubbles will form between the rubber and the mold during the application of pressure and heat. Air bubbles interfere with the mold's ability to properly develop. The tube through which extra pressure is released as the rubber expands is known as a spew hole or vent sprue.
What do these tire hairs represent?
One common fact that they are present suggests that the tire is new, even though they have no bearing on how it performs. As the rubber hairs gradually disappear with continued use of the tires, tires that have been in operation for a while will eventually be free of them.
Should I remove the hairs or keep them?
Some myths often mention that these hairs need to be removed while others say they should not be removed, in either way, it is optional for car owners to do so. Many car owners clean shave the tire spews on the shoulders and sidewall of the tire. There isn't a good reason to take them off, but if you must, it is not necessary to use blades or scissors; just grip them with your hand and pull them off as they are very easy to be removed.
Are these hairs harmful to the tires?
No worries, we have removed these hairs from the tire before delivery and actually these hairs are not harmful to the tire, it works normally.
